MBA Global Immersion Elective (GIE)
Global immersion electives are intensive study abroad programs led by UNC Kenan-Flagler faculty. Participants learn about business and local economics firsthand through meeting with business leaders in local and multinational companies, local government leaders and meeting local students, where possible. Students also receive academic credit towards the business degree. Students are able to participate in immersion programs and complete an internship in the same summer.
GIE now has a healthcare-specific elective. Kenan-Flagler faculty will travel with a group of students to China and Japan, with a focus on exploring the healthcare systems within each of these countries.
Kenan Scholars
The Kenan Institute’s Kenan Scholars Program is the premier research opportunity for MBA and dual-degree students. Scholars gain real-world research experience through a year-long apprenticeship, and earn course credit while working directly with world-renowned faculty researchers. This year, students developed four interesting healthcare-focused projects.
Recent healthcare-focused projects include A Business Evaluation of Hotspotting in Healthcare, Medically Tailored Meals: The Insurer Landscape and Future Opportunities, The Opioid Crisis and Its Impact on Local Hospital Care Delivery, and Personalized Medicine Impact on the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Sector.
