What I Wish I Knew w/ Carl Elliott: Lessons from Whistleblowers in Medicine

Hosted by the UNC School of Civic Life and Leadership.

Professor Carl Elliott (UMN), MD, PhD, trained first in medicine and then in philosophy. His work has explored crucial aspects of the health professions including the transformation of medicine into big business, the relentless consumption among Americans of enhancement technologies and drugs, and the moral responsibility of mentally ill offenders. In this lecture, he will speak about his work on whistleblowing in medical research which appeared in 2024 as a book titled The Occasional Human Sacrifice: Medical Experimentation and the Price of Saying No.
